In 2008 Obi co-founded AppZone with a focus on the broader view of providing technology to empower people with unlimited access to quality financial services. From inception Obi has led AppZoneâ€™s stellar growth and consequent emergence as Africaâ€™s leading provider of home-grown Banking and Payment software.
Obi is currently focusing on AppZoneâ€™s imminent expansion into Africa through recent International partnerships and investments. Prior to his startup activities, Obi had brief stints at various times with SIOtel Nig. Ltd and 21st Century Ltd, serving in both companies in capacity of system administrator and network engineer.
His entrepreneurial drive led to the setup of Ceerom Ventures, a table water production and manufacturing business enterprise which he co-founded in 2005. At the same time his passion for IT resulted in his foray into the electronic prepaid airtime distribution. In 2006, he championed the development of Nigeriaâ€™s premier mobile airtime distribution service. This gave birth to the RechargePlusÂ® brand, a web and mobile based service for prepaid airtime purchase.
Emeka is also a co-founder of Appzone Limited and his immense contribution and business insights has spurred Appzone to its present height in a short while.
Previously, Wale served as Head, Research & Development of Parkway Projects Limited and was responsible for performing research, recommending solutions, leading a team of application developers. While in his then capacity as Head of Research & Development, he was instrumental in the facilitation of applications that enhanced the services of financial institutions.
He also worked with the Nigerian arm of Enliven Solutions USA; a Software solutions company, where he served as lead software developer.
In 2008, Wale Co-founded AppZone, initially registered as Price & Networks Limited, where he is the executive director in charge of Technology, a position he has held since the conception of the organization.
Jane was appointed Group Chief Operating Officer of Business Connexion in May 2014, to provide leadership and strategic direction to address the Group’s pressing needs through the implementation of specific projects and activities. Subsequent to Business connexion merger with Telkom, she has taken on the role of Group Executive: Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), with responsibility for Group operations outside of South Africa. She chairs and seats on multiple subsidiary boards. On joining BCX in 2011 she was Group Executive: UCS Division, responsible for the direction of the UCS business.
Jane has extensive business and ICT management experience. With a career which commenced in financial management, Jane has excelled in various IT management and consulting roles. She is known for her strategic leadership style, her focus on excellence and dedication to the delivery of superior, cost effective service through effective IT services Management.
Henk de Weerdt
Henk started his IT career in 1986 as a computer operator in a mainframe environment and moved to software development a year later. He worked on numerous projects (comprising of factory, healthcare, payroll, HR, and municipal systems) in various companies. He joined Business Connexion in 1996 as a database administrator. He spent many more years in various technical positions and later moved into a management role. In June 2005 he became Regional Executive responsible for the Private Sector business in the Pretoria Region.
His role later changed to that of Managing Executive where he was responsible for various Government projects.
He was appointed as Chief Operations Officer for Business Connexion Innovation Division in May 2013 and acted as Group Executive for the Innovation Division from October 2013 to August 2014. With Business Connexionâ€™s acquisition of various entities the need to give strategic guidance to these companies arose and Henk was appointed as Managing Executive – Strategic Investment in September 2014.
He was given the additional responsibility of Chief Information Officer for the Business Connexion Group in May 2015
